Kia ora, friends of Taranaki Retreat
So much has been happening on site!
Check out the photographs of the Sanctuary building - walls up, roof on, windows in - before long we'll be beginning to work on the interior lining and decoration, and even to get the outside ready for Kind Hands to be painted on!
Also - "Dragonfly Valley" - has to be seen and wandered through, to believe quite how beautiful it is. The Board Walk, the lovely peaceful waterways where the dragonflies hover - with little waterfalls, a pretty pool, and even the jetty where you can watch the eels lurking in the recesses and feed them! So much time, care and thought has gone into shaping this special part of the Retreat - the natural beauty of the outdoors.
The earthbag wall, built by the wonderful team from Z Stations, has now had its finishing touches added, as you'll see below.
We are deeply, humbly grateful to those who continue to support the Retreat through grants and personal donations. We are so close to being in a position to begin the build of the Lodge (where guests will stay). Once that is complete (hopefully only a matter of a few months away) - the Retreat will be ready to serve this community. We receive regular contact from people wondering whether we can accommodate someone known to them who is in need of some time out. The answer is, "Very soon, we hope!"
