Catering will no doubt be a large part of Retreat life! If you are going through difficult times, some good food can help. If life is tough then you might not have the head space to cook a good meal or you might not to remember to eat regularly. Part of our care is about basic nourishment.
One of the visions of Retreat life is a shared dinner every evening. The Retreat house has a large dining room chosen with communal eating in mind. Breakfast and lunch will usually be available in the Lodge where guests will stay. The food is planned to be simple – for example stews featuring seasonal vegetables – but tasty. As with everything to do with Taranaki Retreat we will also rely on the generosity of the community. So if you have a glut of garden produce, think about giving it to the retreat. If you love baking or enjoy cooking, why not get in touch and offer to make afternoon tea or a meal one night? If you want to support by buying the odd extra grocery, that will also be appreciated. Please get in touch if you would like to be a part of the Retreat kaupapa through food! Email firstname.lastname@example.org to put your name on our catering committee list or find out a list of what we might be needing grocery-wise.
The retreat is hoping to open before the end of 2016 – but please get in touch any time!
